Race Equality Week

The next Race Equality Week, an annual UK-wide movement uniting thousands of organisations and individuals to address the barriers to racial equality in the workplace, returns this week.

The theme for 2023 is #ItsEveryonesBusiness because tackling race inequality is everyone’s business. Organised by Race Equality Matters, the week-long event (6-12 February 2023) aims to encourage UK organisations to be part of the solution that creates the change we all want to see.

More than 2,000 organisations took part in the first Race Equality Week in February 2021. Around, 3,500 people from 3,000 organisations participated in 2022.

DRIVING RACIAL EQUALITY AT WORK

Studies have confirmed that around three-quarters of ethnic minorities experience racism in the workplace, and around a third of FTSE 100 companies have no ethnic minority board members. Moreover, graduates from minority backgrounds are twice as likely to be unemployed. Racial Equality Week is a unique opportunity to create real change for organisations that believe race equality matters.

This year, organisations and professionals can take part in the five-day challenge, created by Race Equality Matters. There are several different activities for colleagues to engage with each day of the week-long event to help your employees reflect and, more importantly, take action to drive race equality. The week will also feature a number of virtual events to create an open discussion with industry leaders from various sectors to help create real change.
