COVID-19 CHALLENGES

“We are proud to share this year’s announcement and congratulate all Top Employers that have been certified in their respective countries/regions,” stated David Plink, CEO of Top Employers Institute. They will be honoured at its first global virtual event to be held on 28 January. The event will bring together “over 12 000 attendees on one day, united in shaping a better world of work”, confirmed Plink.

In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic posed challenges for societies across the world. It unleashed a new era of change for  companies worldwide, whose survival and growth could influence the lives of millions of employees and their families. “In addition to the adverse impacts on global health systems and economies, businesses faced the significant hurdle of supporting their people in adapting to new ways of work. In our research, we were glad to see that Top Employers put their employees first from the outset of the global health crisis. They responded and adapted quickly to the ever-changing situation,” noted Plink.

“Despite the challenges, it was business as usual and Top Employers were held to the same high standards as with every previous year.  We also saw great opportunities and positive changes, including increased focus on well-being, a greater need work-life balance, and a reduction in time spent commuting,” he added.

JTI HONOURED FOR 7TH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

JTI has actually been recognised as one of only 16 Global Top Employers for the seventh consecutive year. This latest certification “once again acknowledges JTI’s excellent working conditions, as well as the progress it has made to improve wellbeing, diversity and inclusion; such as the launch of our leading global Family Leave Policy”, said the company. Since 1 January 2021, JTI employees across the world, regardless of gender, sexual orientation or the way they become parents, benefit from 20 weeks fully paid leave when welcoming a child.

“The Top Employer certification is not an end-in-itself. For us, it is confirmation that we have always been on the right track by making our workplace a safe and flexible environment for all our employees; whether they are farmers, scientists, office or factory workers,” stated Steve Dyer, JTI’s Vice President, Global Talent Management. “This seventh consecutive certification also sends a strong message to our future employees; we constantly give our people the opportunity to develop their career under the best conditions in order to perform to their highest abilities while being themselves.”
