The latest ranking recognises the 100 companies whose support for parents has stood out during an unprecedented and challenging year for employees with caregiving duties. The 100 organisations named Best Workplaces for Parents earned this prestigious award because they have consistently created positive experiences for their working parents trying to juggle jobs with remote education, quarantines and so much more in 2020.

Companies that invest in employees and their families experience higher levels of innovation and reap significant competitive advantages in employer branding, retention and productivity, according to the latest findings from Great Place to Work.

INVESTING IN PARENTS PAYS OFF

Despite tough times, the Best Workplaces for Parents are proving that it is possible to build a positive employee experience for parents and parents-to-be. And when companies make that investment, their businesses and their employees’ children are better off as a result. In fact, when companies reduce burnout and invest in staff and their families, their employees are 20 times more likely to stay and see 5.5 times more revenue growth thanks to greater innovation, higher talent retention and increased productivity, confirmed the Best Workplaces for Parents research, carried out by Great Place To Work and healthcare firm Maven Clinic.

So what are the Best Workplaces for Parents doing to ensure they they keep parents motivated and engaged? They are thinking beyond maternity leave to support employees throughout the entire journey of planning and raising a family. For example:

  • 78% are supporting working parents’ childcare needs by helping them find childcare or backup childcare (56%) and offering parent employee resource groups (61%).
  • 81% are providing reimbursement for fertility treatments, and over the past three years, nearly half have increased their coverage.
  • They are also offering benefits like telemedicine for pregnant and postpartum families (49%), return-to-work career coaching (48%) and breast milk shipping (52%).
