Arts Council England has partnered up with diversity consultancy, the Clear Company, to launch an online diversity toolkit to encourage the arts sector to create more inclusive workplaces. The bespoke software ‘Clear Assured’ has been designed to support arts and cultural organisations to recruit and retain diverse talent and foster inclusive practices, in a bid to better reflect the communities they serve.

“This toolkit represents a serious commitment to a diverse, innovative arts and cultural sector,” said the Clear Company’s Managing Consultant Jen Davidson. “By enabling each organisation to choose their own journey, it provides bespoke direction and support for busy teams leading to consistent progress and achievement.”

BEST PRACTICE GUIDANCE

According to the consultancy, the new software provides best practice downloadable resources and guidance on issues such as job descriptions, reasonable adjustments and access to work, managing employee and workplace stress, conducting board skills audits and more. The toolkit is suitable for both small and large organisations at all stages in their inclusion journey.

Commenting on the new diversity toolkit, Abid Hussain, Director of Diversity at Arts Council England, stated: “We want arts and cultural organisations to fully reflect the communities they serve; recruiting, retaining and providing career development pathways for diverse talent, and fostering inclusive workplaces is a significant part of achieving this aim.”

DRIVING POSITIVE CHANGE

“I hope organisations across our national portfolio, and the wider arts and cultural sector, can make full use of the resources and support provided on the platform to drive positive and sustainable change,” added Hussain.

While Arts Council England’s regularly funded organisations are offered this resource, other arts and cultural bodies are also encouraged to sign up to use the platform.
