Community Business, a not-for-profit organisation advancing responsible and inclusive business practices in Asia, has announced the winners of this year’s Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) in India Best Practice Awards. The winners were revealed at the end of last week, at the 2019 D&I In India Best Practice Conference & Awards Ceremony, sponsored by HSBC.

According to Community Business, a total of 104 nominations were received across eight categories for this year’s awards. 

“We were delighted to receive over 100 submissions this year – a true testament to the focus and progress made by companies in India in furthering diversity and inclusion. It indeed was a hard task to select the winners among the 28 finalists,” stated Vijaya K Matt, Country Head, India at Community Business. “Congratulations to all the winners who have championed diversity and inclusion in India and made a difference among their employees and communities. I look forward to seeing the new heights that we can reach in the years to come with our vision to harness the power of business to drive social change.” 

THE WINNERS

GSK’s WAVE initiative was awarded the 2019 Advancement of Women Award, sponsored by Accenture, for its positive and measurable impact on supporting and promoting the advancement of women in the workplace in India. EY’s Women’s India Network (EYWIN) won the 2019 Employee Network Award, sponsored by Northern Trust.

RBS scooped the 2019 Disability Confidence Award sponsored by Société Générale, and this year’s LGBT+ Inclusion Award, sponsored by AIG, went to The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group. 

In recognition of someone that uses their influence to promote D&I in the workplace and beyond in India, HSBC’s Swayta Murarka scooped the 2019 D&I Business Leader Award.

COMMITED CHAMPIONS 

Mellener Anne Coelho from Northern Trust won this year’s D&I Champion of Change Award for being ‘a visible and committed champion of change in advancing D&I in the workplace and beyond in India’. 

Tata Consultancy Services Limited scooped the 2019 D&I Pioneering Initiative Award for its Allies of Diversity Conclave initiative. AIG Analytics and Services Private Limited (for Project AbhIGna) and JLL (for Project Unnati) were announced winners of this year’s Promoting Social Inclusion Award, sponsored by Intel, for their ‘positive and measurable impact in promoting the social inclusion of a diverse or under-represented group in the wider community in India’.

It resonates with our aim to build a diverse workforce which is valued, respected and supported to fulfil its potential.”
