Community Business has announced that it will run five workshops to drive LGBT+ inclusion in Hong Kong during the first half of this year.

The workshops, starting this month will run until June 2020, confirmed the not-for-profit organisation. “These workshops will help organisations formulate a strategy for LGBT+ inclusion that aligns with their overall D&I strategy and business goals,” it said. “They will also gain further understanding on how to effectively drive momentum and strategise next steps.”

RAISING THE BAR

The workshops have been created as a result of Community’s Business’ Hong Kong LGBT+ Workplace Inclusion Index – the first benchmark of its kind in Asia, along with a number of associated awards. This biennial initiative, launched back in 2015, has been a huge success propelling LGBT+ inclusion into the spotlight in Hong Kong.

According to Community Business, the Index has proved to be a game changer in Hong Kong. As part of its goal to promote the adoption of best practice and drive greater progress on LGBT+ inclusion in the country, Community Business will share best practices and lessons with the business community.

“We aim to help organisations of all sizes and from all industries to drive LGBT+ inclusion internally and in the wider Hong Kong through our workshops addressing different key aspects of the Index,” added Community Business.

Rachael Shekmore, Partner at Eversheds Sutherland, will be one of the main Speakers at the first workshop.

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES

The specific objectives of this workshop are to:

  • Highlight the importance of having a specific strategy in place for LGBT+ inclusion efforts in Hong Kong, and how this strategy might fit in with wider organisational goals and plans.
  • Provide participants with specific advice on what steps they might take to formulate plans and secure buy-in from internal stakeholders.
  • Provide participants with specific advice on what should be included in such plans and how these should be promoted to employees internally.
  • Share experiences from companies who have been successful in their efforts in Hong Kong – including challenges and triumphs.

This first in the series of 5 workshops, titled Raising the Bar: Continuing your LGBT+ Inclusion Journey, is scheduled to take place on 16th January 2020. Speakers at the first workshop, include Rachael Shekmore, Partner at Eversheds Sutherland, Michael Lammore, Executive Director at Goldman Sachs, and Alex Bidlake, Corporate Partner at Linklaters. Discounts are available for those who purchase tickets to all five in the workshop series.
