Balancing career with caregiving

Community Business has organised a webinar to examine the growing pressure on staff to balance their careers with care responsibilities. The virtual event will reveal the results from its latest research which explores the types of pressure faced by employees trying to balance professional responsibilities with home care duties – be it for children, ageing parents or family members with a disability or long-term health condition.

As well as sharing highlights from the research, the non-profit will engage a corporate panel to explore important themes such as:

  • Changing demographics and the role of family in Asia for providing care.
  • Shift in childcare responsibilities – from mothers to shared parenting.
  • Proactive ways that companies are supporting their employees in their role as carers.
  • The need for more empathetic and inclusive organisations and leaders.

PROMOTING WORK-LIFE BALANCE

For companies committed to promoting work-life harmony, taking proactive steps to support employees with their caregiving responsibilities is emerging as a priority, particularly right now in the midst of COVID-19. The research will also highlight “how addressing caregiving is critical to wider efforts to promote gender equality and enhance employee wellbeing”, pointed out Community Business. Based on interviews with local experts and corporate case studies from the region, the webinar’s speakers will examine the context of caregiving in key markets across Asia and provide recommendations on how companies can respond.

Expert speakers attending the virtual event include:

  • Christina Yungmore, Senior Community, Diversity and Financial Vulnerability Manager, HSBC
  • Julian Koomore, CEO and Co-Founder, Jaga-Me
  • Katharine Woodmore, Senior Reputational Risk and Client Selection Manager and Co-Chair of Ability ERG, HSBC
  • Ketika Kapoor, Co-Founder and CEO, ProEves
