Best Places to Work in Australia and New Zealand

Financial Review has revealed Australia and New Zealand’s top employers to work for in 2021.

The AFR BOSS Best Places to Work awards recognise organisations that are pioneering new ways of working; and pushing the boundaries when it comes to workplace policies and practices. These prestigious awards are underpinned by a “rigorous” and “proven methodology”, according to the organiser. This year’s list is split into 10 industry-specific categories. 

BEST PLACES TO WORK DOWN UNDER

Johnson & Johnson has been crowned the Best Place to Work in the health industries category; followed by Arriba Group, Afea Care Services, Pinnacle Health Group and Compass Medical Group. For the agriculture, mining and utilities category, Viva Energy wins the top spot; followed by GroundProbe, Green Collar, EnergyAustralia and CBH Group. 

ANZ scooped the number one spot in the banking, superannuation and financial services list; followed by CBA, Medibank, AptWealth Partners and Visa. The Best Places to Work in the government, education and not-for-profit category, include Australian Council for Educational Research in first place; followed by Maths Pathway, Nillumbik Shire Council, Korowa Anglican Girls’ School and Relationships Australia NSW. PHD Media secures the number one position in the media and marketing sector; followed by L&A Social Media, King Kong, Half Dome and OMD Australia.

CONSUMER & PROFESSIONAL SERVICE STARS

BWX Australia, which develops and manufactures a range of wellness brands such as Sukin, Mineral Fusion and Andalou, is named the Best Place to Work in the manufacturing and consumer goods category. Treasury Wine Estates scooped second place; followed by Unilever, Koskela, Carman’s Kitchen and Mondelēz International.

The Best Places to Work in the professional services category are PwC – in first place; followed by Beaumont People, Interpro People, Bendelta and Today. Investa tops the property, construction and transport category list; followed by Charter Hall, Ford Motor Company, Reece Group and Middleton Group. GPC Asia Pacific is crowned the Best Company in the retail, hospitality, tourism and entertainment category. Choice Hotels Asia Pacific secured second place, followed by Luxory Escapes, IKON Services Australia and ABA Labels.

WELLBEING, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION CHAMPIONS

In the Technology space, Seek is the number one Best Company to Work For; followed by SixPivot, Mantel Group, Xero and Blackbird Ventures. Seek has also won a special award as the Best Overall Place to Work this year; and tech firm Blackbird Ventures also topped the list for Best Employee Experience

Additionally, SixPivot has received the ‘most outstanding practice’ award for Diversity and Inclusion. Carman’s Kitchen also won the special category award for ‘most outstanding practice’ for Employee Wellbeing. Click here to find out more about the winners, awards and methodology.
