The Latino Leadership Institute (LLI) has launched a diversity, equity and inclusion leadership (DE&I) programme to help companies achieve meaningful change.

Based on neuroscience research, the Insight to Inclusive Leadership programme offers a new framework for organisations to address DE&I; from the individual point of view, rather than from a corporate-driven policy level. “This is a completely refreshing, new approach to addressing DE&I with the individual in mind; instead of corporate policies that don’t stick,” stated Joelle Martinez, CEO of LLI. “DE&I has historically been about compliance, but meaningful DE&I is about awareness. Our programme is for organisations that seek real change and want to influence how stakeholders perceive and think.”

INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP

The Insight to Inclusive Leadership course includes six 90-minute virtual training sessions; each uniquely designed to help participants understand how individuals create their own framework for diversity based on their lived experiences and society. The average programme is 12-15 weeks, but can vary depending on company schedules.

LLI developed the course in partnership with Dr Stefanie K Johnson, Associate Professor of Organisational Leadership and Information analytics at the University of Colorado. She incorporated her cutting-edge research on organisational cultures of inclusion, uniqueness and belonging.

GAME-CHANGING PROGRAMME

To date, Vistage Worldwide, Dynalectric Colorado, University of Northern Colorado and Gates Family Foundation have already participated in the programme.

“At Dynalectric, we’re committed to unleashing the potential in all of our employees,” stated Gina M Cullen, President and CEO of Dynalectric Colorado. “For us, LLI’s programme is a company game changer that treats people with dignity; and encourages the highest level of openness and cooperation from top to bottom.”

Founded in 2014, LLI is a non-profit organisation honouring the heritage of leadership and advancing Latino and BIPOC professionals to positions of influence; and provides DE&I programming to organisational leaders across all industries.

Did you know that Latinos occupy a meagre 3% of Fortune 1000 board seats, despite comprising 18.5% of the US population? Click here to read more about how organisations like LCDA are working to increase that number.
