Disability Smart Awards 2021

It’s still not too late to enter this year’s Disability Smart Awards and showcase how your organisation is delivering the best possible experience for disabled people.

How has your organisation overcome the many challenges of the last year to meet the needs of disabled employees and customers? Perhaps you have reviewed your communication channels to make them more inclusive; or looked at how you could better attract and retain disabled talent through your recruitment and HR practices. Business Disability Forum (BDF) is looking for organisations that have gone above and beyond to deliver the best possible experience for disabled people.

Sponsored by Microlink, the Disability Smart Awards 2021 celebrate the work of organisations and individuals to transform the lives of disabled people in the workplace and in society. The awards recognise inclusive practice across 12 areas. They include recruitment, customer service, communication and procurement. Entries close tomorrow, so it’s still not too late to send in your entry if you haven’t already.

SPOTLIGHTING DISABILITY INCLUSION

Previous Disability Smart Awards winners include MI5. Reflecting on their success at the 2019 awards, MI5’s disability network, Ability Action, commented: “The Disability Smart Award recognised our commitment to improving disability inclusion in the workplace. It gave us a real boost as an organisation; and we’re looking at how we can take disability inclusion to the next level, in line with the National Disability Strategy. We’ve also been listening to the experience of candidates coming through out recruitment pipeline; some of whom were inspired by the awards to ensure we’re making candidate experience as welcoming and transparent as possible. We’ve still got further to go but with the support of BDF and the spotlight the award put on disability in the organisation, we’re confident we have all of the ingredients to succeed! We’d love to inspire others with that confidence.”

The Disability Smart Awards 2021 are open for nominations and free to enter. Nominations will close at 23.59 tomorrow, on 14 September . Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 2 December 2021. For a full list of award categories and details of how to enter, click here.
