Over the last few days both Forbes and DiversityInc have published lists of the top 50 companies excelling in diversity.

Interestingly, just five companies have earned a place in both lists. They include TD Bank, TIAA, Procter & Gamble, Mastercard and Accenture. Interestingly, Accenture scooped the top spot in DiversityInc (compared to 50 on Forbes), followed by Mastercard (spot number two on DiversityInc’s list, compared to 43 on Forbes). TD Bank secured spot 13 in the DiversityInc list and ninth in Forbes). Proctor & Gamble ranked 35 on Forbes’ list and 48 on DiversityInc’s list; while TIAA secured eighth spot in DiversityInc and 30 in Forbes’ list.

The rankings from both depend on the diversity and inclusion measures used. Here’s how the Forbes and Diversity Inc lists differed and what measures they use to determine an employer’s ranking in their lists to determine their top 50 companies for diversity.

AMERICA’S BEST EMPLOYERS FOR DIVERSITY

Forbes partnered with market research company Statista to compile its annual list of America’s Best Employers for Diversity. To determine the ranking, Statista surveyed 60,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees and pinpointed the companies they identified as most dedicated to diversity, equity and inclusion. Survey participants were asked to rate their organizations on criteria such as age, gender, ethnicity, disability and sexual orientation equality, as well as that of general diversity. Statista then asked respondents belonging to underrepresented groups to nominate organisations other than their own. So who are America’s best employers for Diversity, according to Forbes?
