National Inclusion Week

Throughout the whole of this week, the UK celebrates National Inclusion Week.

The event, which runs from September 27th-October 3rd this year, aims to raise awareness of inclusion in the workplace. National Inclusion Week is dedicated to improving diversity and inclusion standards and stamp out workplace inequality. Over the next seven days, businesses are encouraged to celebrate inclusion in all forms to create a more diverse workplace.

The week-long event was created by Inclusive Employers in the UK, some nine years ago. The theme for National Inclusion Week 2021 is United For Inclusion. Over 2000 organisations took part in National Inclusion Week last year, and the combined activities connected over 16 million people using #NationalInclusionWeek2020.

UNITED FOR INCLUSION

The challenges of 2020 – the pandemic, the call for action on anti-racism following the murder of George Floyd – have had a lasting impact. Inclusive Employers aims to use its #UnitedForInclusion theme to create a platform to work together. “By working together we can be most effective in our response to these challenges. We will have open conversations. They may be challenging and uncomfortable, but they will drive change and inspire action. Change and action are vital in our mission to make inclusion an everyday reality,” stated the company.

If you haven’t already signed up you can still register as a National Inclusion Week participant, and access the toolkit, which contains all the resources you need to plan and organise your inspiring Inclusion Week activities and events. Inclusive Employers also has a great line-up of events throughout the week from how to have fearless conversations about race’ and ‘Anti-racism’ to how to diversify your talent pool.
